The Pastor of Student Ministries (80% of time) oversees all aspects of the Student Ministry and Upwards Sports Ministry (20% of time). This position recruits, trains, and oversees all volunteers for these ministries. This position reports to the Senior Pastor.
Experience/Education:
•A college graduate with a degree in student ministry or related field
•Ordained minister or desire to seek ordination
Requirements:
•Relates well with staff, parents, and students.
•Manage the ministry by utilizing strong communication (written and verbal), time management, and collaboration skills.
•Able to verbally communicate Biblical principles effectively through teaching and preaching.
•Performs high quality work with minimum supervision within assigned deadlines.
•Thinks strategically while staying focused on the accomplishment of current priorities.
•Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use fine motor skills. Specific vision abilities required by the job include both close and distance vision.
Essential Responsibilities:
•Facilitate weekly student worship services, which includes being the primary speaker, as well as coordinating all logistical aspects of ministry (scheduling, programming, etc).
•Facilitate Small Groups for students by leading & equipping volunteer leaders.
•Facilitate Sunday morning student group during the 10:30 a.m. service.
•Build relationships with students by attending school activities, sporting events, lunches, etc.
•Develop mentoring or discipleship groups for student leaders and potential leaders.
•Supervise volunteers through recruitment, placement, communication, organization, and training.
•Facilitate students serving on ministry teams and mission teams.
•Plan and coordinate special events including annual youth camp.
•Support parents of students by addressing concerns, educating, and counseling.
•Coordinate all aspects of Upwards Soccer (spring) & Basketball & Cheer (fall).
•Develop a third Upwards season of either baseball, football, or volleyball.
•Cultivate relationships with Upwards families and implement outreach strategies with the goal of connecting unchurched Upwards families to the church.
•Plan monthly activities for Young Adults (18-25).
•Recruit and train leaders to lead a small group for Young Adults.
•Prepare and maintain a ministry budget.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
•Attend weekly staff meetings.
•Assist with pastoral duties such as baptisms and hospital visitation (1 week on-call every 8 weeks).
